General Information
Annual mean wind speeds (m s-1) for 1979-2000 for the Midwest region. Data are for a height of 10 m and are drawn from in situ observations in NCDCs Integrated Surface Hourly (DS3505) data set (Pryor and Barthelmie 2012b). Average wind speeds are quite variable spatially, although there is a tendency for increases from east to west. Figure courtesy of Indiana University Press.
