Length of the Growing Season (28°F Threshold)
LOCA simulations of the change in the annual length of the growing-season, using a 28°F threshold (growing-season-28F). The length of the growing season is defined as the number of days between the last occurrence of a minimum temperature at or below 28°F in the spring and the first occurrence of a minimum temperature at or below 28°F in the fall. Grid points with more than 10 of the 30 years not experiencing an occurrence of 28°F or lower are excluded from the analysis. Maps are presented for the “Historical Climate”, “Lower Emissions”, “Higher Emissions”, and “Upper Bound” for three future time periods, as described above. Units for “Historical Climate” maps are number of days. Units for “Lower Emissions”, “Higher Emissions”, and “Upper Bound” maps are change in the number of days.
Graphs are also presented depicting the multi-model mean and 5-95th percentile model distributions of “growing-season-28F” under both higher and lower emissions for two urban areas, as described above. Units for graphs are number of days.
