Average number of modified growing degree days (MGDD) for the Midwest region, determined from a base of 50°F to a ceiling of 86°F for the period of April-October 1981-2010. There is north to south increase, ranging from less than 2000 near Lake Superior to more than 4000 in far southern sections.
